ZNF217

Description

The ZNF217 (zinc finger protein 217) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

ZNF217, also known as Zinc finger protein 217, is a protein encoded by the ZNF217 gene in humans. It can weaken apoptotic signals triggered by telomere dysfunction, potentially promoting tumor development and later stages of cancer. Research has indicated that ZNF217 serves as a prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target during breast cancer progression.

ZNF217 binds to the promoters of target genes and acts as a repressor. It promotes cell proliferation while inhibiting cell death. ZNF217 enhances the phosphorylation of AKT1 at Ser-473. These functions have been reported in multiple studies, including publications with PubMed IDs 16203743, 16940172, 17259635, and 18625718.

ZNF217 is also known as ZABC1.
