ZFAT-AS1

Description

The ZFAT-AS1 (ZFAT antisense RNA 1) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 8.

ZFAT-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA expressed in CD19+ B-cells of peripheral blood lymphocytes. It acts as an antisense transcript of the ZFAT gene, specifically targeting and inhibiting the expression of the truncated ZFAT variant, TR-ZFAT. It does not affect the expression of the full-length ZFAT protein. A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the 3'-UTR of TR-ZFAT and the promoter region of ZFAT-AS1 influences the expression of both ZFAT-AS1 and TR-ZFAT. This SNP has been linked to an increased risk of autoimmune thyroid disease.

ZFAT-AS1 is also known as NCRNA00070, SAS-ZFAT, ZFAT-AS, ZFATAS.
