ZEB1-AS1

zeb1-as1 Gene: A Comprehensive Overview

Description

The zeb1-as1 gene, also known as ZEB1 antisense RNA 1, is a non-coding RNA molecule located on chromosome 10q22.3. As an antisense RNA, it is complementary to the coding sequence of the zeb1 gene, which encodes the zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 protein. The zeb1-as1 gene is involved in regulating gene expression by inhibiting the transcription of the zeb1 gene.

Associated Diseases

Alterations in the zeb1-as1 gene have been implicated in various diseases, including:

  • Gastric cancer: Overexpression of zeb1-as1 has been linked to increased cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis in gastric cancer.
  • Lung cancer: Reduced expression of zeb1-as1 has been associated with poor prognosis and increased tumor progression in lung cancer.
  • Breast cancer: Aberrant expression of zeb1-as1 can contribute to tamoxifen resistance and promote breast cancer cell growth.
  • Ovarian cancer: Dysregulation of zeb1-as1 has been observed in ovarian cancer, affecting cell survival, proliferation, and migration.
  • Liver cancer: Changes in zeb1-as1 expression have been linked to tumorigenesis, angiogenesis, and metastasis in liver cancer.

Did you Know ?

In a study of gastric cancer patients, those with high levels of zeb1-as1 expression had a significantly worse 5-year survival rate compared to those with low expression levels.
