ZDHHC20
Description
The ZDHHC20 (zinc finger DHHC-type palmitoyltransferase 20) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.
ZDHHC20 is a palmitoyltransferase that catalyzes the addition of palmitate to various protein substrates, including EGFR. It specifically palmitoylates cysteine residues in the cytoplasmic C-terminus of EGFR, modulating the duration of EGFR signaling by regulating palmitoylation-dependent EGFR internalization and degradation. ZDHHC20 preferentially utilizes acyl-CoA with C16 fatty acid chains, but can also utilize acyl-CoA with C14 and C18 fatty acid chains.
ZDHHC20 is also known as 4933421L13Rik, DHHC-20, DHHC20.
