ZCCHC12

Description

The ZCCHC12 (zinc finger CCHC-type containing 12) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

ZCCHC12 acts as a transcriptional coactivator in the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathway. It enhances BMP signaling by directly interacting with SMAD1 and associating with CBP (CREB-binding protein) within the transcription complex. This interaction promotes the expression of genes specific to cholinergic neurons in response to BMP stimulation.

ZCCHC12 is also known as PNMA7A, SIZN, SIZN1.
