YRDC

Description

The YRDC (yrdC N6-threonylcarbamoyltransferase domain containing) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

YRDC is a cytoplasmic and mitochondrial threonylcarbamoyl-AMP synthase that is essential for the formation of a threonylcarbamoyl group on adenosine at position 37 (t(6)A37) in tRNAs, which recognize codons starting with adenine. It catalyzes the conversion of L-threonine, HCO(3)(-)/CO(2) and ATP into threonylcarbamoyl-AMP (TC-AMP) as an acyladenylate intermediate, releasing diphosphate in the process. YRDC is involved in the formation of t(6)A37 in both cytoplasmic and mitochondrial tRNAs. It may also regulate the activity of some transporters.

YRDC is also known as DRIP3, GAMOS10, IRIP, SUA5.
