WSCD2

Description

The WSCD2 (WSC domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

WSCD2 is a sialate:O-sulfotransferase that catalyzes the addition of a sulfate group to the 8-O position of sialic acid (Sia) residues within Sia-glycans. This reaction utilizes 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS) as a sulfate donor, resulting in the formation of 8-O-sulfated Sia (Sia8S)-glycans. WSCD2 exhibits a preference for glycoproteins such as transferrin.

WSCD2 is also known as -.
