WRAP73

Description

The WRAP73 (WD repeat containing, antisense to TP73) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The WRAP73 protein, in complex with SSX2IP, acts as a regulator of spindle anchoring at the mitotic centrosome. This complex is essential for the proper localization of SSX2IP at the centrosome and for maintaining normal bipolar spindle morphology during mitosis. WRAP73 also plays a crucial role in the targeting of centriole satellite proteins, including PCM1, SSX2IP, CEP290, and PIBF1/CEP90, to the centrosomes. Furthermore, WRAP73 is required for ciliogenesis. It participates in the removal of the CEP97:CCP110 complex from the mother centriole, a critical step in ciliogenesis. WRAP73 is also involved in the formation of ciliary vesicles at the mother centriole and is essential for the docking of these vesicles to the basal body during ciliogenesis, possibly by promoting the docking of vesicles containing RAB8A and ARL13B.

WRAP73 is also known as WDR8.
