WNT5B

Description

The WNT5B (Wnt family member 5B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The WNT5B gene encodes the protein Wnt-5b, which is part of the WNT family of secreted signaling proteins. Wnt proteins are involved in cancer development and various developmental processes, including cell fate regulation and embryonic patterning. Wnt-5b shares a high degree of similarity with the mouse Wnt5b protein and the human WNT5A protein. This gene produces two different transcript variants through alternative splicing.

Wnt-5b acts as a ligand for Frizzled receptors, a family of seven transmembrane receptors. It is likely involved in developmental processes and may act as a signaling molecule influencing the development of specific tissue regions. Signaling is thought to occur over short distances, affecting only a few cell diameters.

WNT5B is also known as -.
