WFIKKN2

Description

The WFIKKN2 (WAP, follistatin/kazal, immunoglobulin, kunitz and netrin domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The WFIKKN2 gene encodes a protein with multiple domains, including a WAP domain, follistatin domain, immunoglobulin domain, two Kunitz domains, and an NTR domain. These domains, particularly the WAP-type, follistatin-type, Kunitz-type, and NTR-type protease inhibitory domains, likely control the activity of various proteases.

WFIKKN2 is a protease inhibitor that contains several distinct protease inhibitor domains. It likely inhibits both serine proteases and metalloproteases. While it inhibits the activity of mature myostatin, it does not inhibit activin.

WFIKKN2 is also known as GASP-1, WFDC20B, WFIKKNRP, hGASP-1.
