WDR82

Description

The WDR82 (WD repeat domain 82) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

WDR82 is a regulatory component of the SET1/COMPASS complex that helps to anchor this complex to the start sites of active genes. It facilitates the methylation of histone H3 at lysine 4 (H3K4me) by recruiting the SETD1A or SETD1B enzymes to the phosphorylated C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II. WDR82 is also part of the PTW/PP1 phosphatase complex, which helps regulate chromatin structure and cell cycle progression during the transition from mitosis to interphase. Furthermore, WDR82 interacts with ZC3H4 to form a transcription termination checkpoint that promotes the termination of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). This checkpoint is activated by the inefficient splicing of the first exon of lncRNAs, leading to the termination of their transcription and their subsequent degradation by the exosome.

WDR82 is also known as MST107, MSTP107, PRO2730, PRO34047, SWD2, TMEM113, WDR82A.
