VTI1A

Description

The VTI1A (vesicle transport through interaction with t-SNAREs 1A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

VTI1A (Vesicle transport through interaction with t-SNAREs homolog 1A) is a human gene that encodes a vesicular-SNARE (v-SNARE) protein. This protein resides in the membranes of target vesicle compartments.

VTI1A acts as a V-SNARE, facilitating vesicle transport by interacting with t-SNAREs on the target membrane. This interaction plays a crucial role in regulating the specificity of vesicle trafficking and promoting the fusion of lipid bilayers. It participates in the movement of vesicles from late endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Additionally, in conjunction with VAMP7, VTI1A is involved in an unconventional RAB1-dependent transport pathway to the cell surface used by KCNIP1 and KCND2. VTI1A may be involved in increased cytokine secretion during cellular senescence.

VTI1A is also known as MMDS3, MVti1, VTI1RP2, Vti1-rp2.
