VPS37B

Description

The VPS37B (VPS37B subunit of ESCRT-I) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

VPS37B is a crucial component of the ESCRT-I complex, a protein machinery that regulates the movement of cellular vesicles. This complex plays a vital role in sorting endocytosed ubiquitinated cargo, which are molecules tagged for degradation, into multivesicular bodies (MVBs). These MVBs then fuse with lysosomes, where the cargo is broken down. Additionally, VPS37B might also contribute to processes like cell growth and differentiation.

VPS37B is also known as -.
