VCL

Description

The VCL (vinculin) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

VCL, or Vinculin, is a protein that plays important roles in cell structure and function.

Vinculin plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, both to the extracellular matrix and to other cells. It binds to actin filaments, contributing to the stability of cell structures. Vinculin regulates the expression of E-cadherin, a key protein in cell-cell adhesion, and enhances the ability of the E-cadherin complex to sense mechanical forces. Vinculin is also involved in cell shape and movement.

VCL is also known as CMD1W, CMH15, HEL114, MV, MVCL, VINC.
