VANGL1

Description

The VANGL1 (VANGL planar cell polarity protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

VANGL1 plays a crucial role in the Wnt signaling pathway, which is essential for embryonic development and tissue homeostasis. It forms a heterodimer with VANGL2 and interacts with Dishevelled proteins (DVL1, DVL2, and DVL3) through its C-terminal region, contributing to the regulation of cellular processes like cell polarity and planar cell polarity (PCP).

VANGL1 is also known as KITENIN, LPP2, STB2, STBM2.
