USP35

Description

The USP35 (ubiquitin specific peptidase 35) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

USP35 is a deubiquitinase that plays a role in various cellular processes, including cell cycle regulation, mitophagy, and endoplasmic reticulum stress. It inhibits TNFalpha-induced NF-kappa-B activation by stabilizing the TNIP2 protein through deubiquitination. USP35 plays a critical role during mitosis by deubiquitinating and regulating the levels of Aurora B/AURKB protein. Furthermore, it regulates the protein levels of other crucial components of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), such as survivin/BIRC5 and Borealin/CDCA8, by enhancing their stability. USP35 also regulates the degradation of mitochondria through autophagy, specifically mitophagy.
