URB1-AS1

Description

The URB1-AS1 (URB1 antisense RNA 1 (head to head)) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 21.

URB1-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 12. Its role in cellular processes is complex and varies depending on the context. It has been linked to cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration, and its involvement in cancer development is multifaceted, with both tumor-promoting and suppressing activities observed in different cancer types. Further research is needed to fully understand its mechanisms of action and potential as a therapeutic target.

URB1-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is located on chromosome 12. It has been shown to be involved in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration. In cancer, URB1-AS1 has been implicated in both promoting and suppressing tumor growth, depending on the specific type of cancer and context. For example, URB1-AS1 has been found to be upregulated in several types of cancer, including breast cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer, and its overexpression is associated with poor prognosis. However, in other cancers, such as gastric cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma, URB1-AS1 expression is downregulated and its loss is associated with tumor progression. The exact mechanisms by which URB1-AS1 exerts its effects on cancer development and progression are still under investigation. However, it is thought to act as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging microRNAs (miRNAs), thereby regulating the expression of target genes. In addition, URB1-AS1 may also be involved in regulating gene expression at the transcriptional level. The role of URB1-AS1 in different types of cancers and its potential as a therapeutic target requires further investigation.

URB1-AS1 is also known as C21orf119, PRED84.
