UPK3B

Description

The UPK3B (uroplakin 3B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

UPK3B is a component of the asymmetric unit membrane (AUM), a specialized membrane in urothelial cells. It contributes to the interaction between the AUM and the cytoskeleton, and also to the formation of the urothelial glycocalyx, which may prevent bacterial adherence.

UPK3B is also known as P35, UP3B, UPIIIB.
