UFSP1

Description

The UFSP1 (UFM1 specific peptidase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

The UFSP1 gene encodes a protein similar to other Ufm1-specific proteases. In mice, Ufsp1 releases Ufm1 (ubiquitin-fold modifier 1) from its conjugated complexes, activating it. However, the human UFSP1 protein is shorter on the N-terminus and lacks a conserved Cys active site, suggesting it may not be functional.

UFSP1 is also known as UFSP.
