UBLCP1

Description

The UBLCP1 (ubiquitin like domain containing CTD phosphatase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

UBLCP1 dephosphorylates the 26S nuclear proteasome, which reduces its proteolytic activity. UBLCP1 interacts with the 19S regulatory particle subunit PSMD2/RPN1, leading to its recruitment to the proteasome. Once bound, UBLCP1 dephosphorylates PSMC2/RPT1, a component of the 19S particle, which disrupts proteasome assembly and inhibits PSMC2 ATPase activity. Interestingly, UBLCP1 has also been shown to stimulate the proteolytic activity of the 26S proteasome.

UBLCP1 is also known as CPUB1.
