UBAP2

Description

The UBAP2 (ubiquitin associated protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

UBAP2 is a protein encoded by the UBAP2 gene in humans. It was discovered due to its expression in the adrenal gland. The protein contains a UBA domain, which is common in proteins involved in ubiquitination, as well as a region similar to a domain found in the atrophin-1 family. Its exact function is unknown, but additional splice variants may exist.

UBAP2 recruits the ubiquitination machinery to RNA polymerase II, leading to its polyubiquitination, removal, and degradation when the transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair (TC-NER) machinery fails to resolve DNA damage. It may also promote the degradation of ANXA2.

UBAP2 is also known as UBAP-2.
