TUBB2A

Description

The TUBB2A (tubulin beta 2A class IIa) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Tubulin beta-2A chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TUBB2A gene.

Tubulin beta-2A chain, also known as Tubulin beta class IIa, is a key component of microtubules. Microtubules are cylindrical structures formed by the association of alpha- and beta-tubulin heterodimers. They grow by the addition of GTP-bound tubulin dimers to their ends, forming a stabilizing cap. Below the cap, tubulin dimers transition to a GDP-bound state due to the GTPase activity of alpha-tubulin.

TUBB2A is also known as CDCBM5, TUBB, TUBB2.
