TUBA1C
Description
The TUBA1C (tubulin alpha 1c) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
Tubulin alpha-1C chain is a protein encoded by the TUBA1C gene in humans.
TUBA1C encodes alpha-tubulin, a key component of microtubules. Microtubules are dynamic structures essential for various cellular processes. They grow by adding GTP-bound tubulin dimers to their ends, forming a stabilizing cap. Below the cap, GTP is hydrolyzed to GDP, leading to a change in tubulin conformation.
TUBA1C is also known as TUBA6, bcm948.
