TSR3

Description

The TSR3 (TSR3 ribosome maturation factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

TSR3, also known as TSR3 Ribosome Maturation Factor or C16orf42, is a hypothetical human protein located on chromosome 16. Its protein sequence consists of 312 amino acids and its cDNA has 1214 base pairs. While its exact function is unknown, it is predicted to be a transmembrane protein, although the specific membrane it resides in is yet to be identified. TSR3 shows significant homology with proteins in other organisms, including mammals, fungi, and plants, with high conservation across its mammalian orthologs (up to 95% identity in rhesus monkeys) and some conservation in more distant homologs (53% identity in corn). It has one potential human paralog, EGFL6.

TSR3 catalyzes the transfer of an aminocarboxypropyl group to pseudouridine at position 1248 (Psi1248) in 18S rRNA. This reaction is believed to be the final step in the biosynthesis of the hypermodified N1-methyl-N3-(3-amino-3-carboxypropyl) pseudouridine (m1acp3-Psi) which is conserved in eukaryotic 18S rRNA.

TSR3 is also known as C16orf42, HsTsr3.
