TSPAN32

Description

The TSPAN32 (tetraspanin 32) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

TSPAN32 is a human gene that encodes the protein Tetraspanin-32. This protein is a member of the tetraspanin superfamily and is expressed primarily in hematopoietic tissues. TSPAN32 is located within a critical tumor suppressor gene region on chromosome 11p15.5, and alterations in this region have been linked to various cancers, including Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, and certain types of lung, ovarian, and breast cancer. While TSPAN32 itself escapes imprinting, it is located near several imprinted genes. This gene might play a role in both hematopoietic cell function and the development of malignancies associated with the 11p15.5 region.

TSPAN32 is also known as ART1, PHEMX, PHMX, TSSC6.
