TSPAN15

Description

The TSPAN15 (tetraspanin 15) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

TSPAN15 is a member of the TspanC8 subgroup, which comprises six proteins that interact with the transmembrane metalloprotease ADAM10. This interaction is essential for ADAM10's exit from the endoplasmic reticulum, its enzymatic maturation and trafficking to the cell surface, and its substrate specificity. Different TspanC8/ADAM10 complexes have distinct substrates. TSPAN15 promotes ADAM10-mediated cleavage of CDH2 and negatively regulates ligand-induced Notch activity, likely by regulating ADAM10 activity.

TSPAN15 is also known as 2700063A19Rik, NET-7, NET7, TM4SF15.
