TSPAN14

Description

The TSPAN14 (tetraspanin 14) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

Tetraspanin 14 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TSPAN14 gene.

TSPAN14 belongs to the TspanC8 subgroup, which comprises six members that interact with the transmembrane metalloprotease ADAM10. This interaction is crucial for ADAM10's exit from the endoplasmic reticulum, its enzymatic maturation, and trafficking to the cell surface, as well as substrate specificity. Different TspanC8/ADAM10 complexes exhibit distinct substrate preferences. TSPAN14 negatively regulates ADAM10-mediated cleavage of GP6, while promoting ADAM10-mediated cleavage of CDH5.

TSPAN14 is also known as DC-TM4F2, TM4SF14, tspan-14.
