TRMT12

Description

The TRMT12 (tRNA methyltransferase 12 homolog) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

TRMT12 is a gene that encodes the tRNA wybutosine-synthesizing protein 2 homolog in humans.

TRMT12 is an enzyme involved in the synthesis of wybutosine, a modified guanosine base found in eukaryotic phenylalanine tRNA. It utilizes S-adenosyl-L-methionine as a substrate and catalyzes the transfer of an alpha-amino-alpha-carboxypropyl (acp) group from it to the C-7 position of 4-demethylwyosine (imG-14) to produce wybutosine-86.

TRMT12 is also known as TRM12, TYW2.
