TRMT112

Description

The TRMT112 (tRNA methyltransferase activator subunit 11-2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

TRMT112 is a human gene that encodes a protein involved in methylation reactions. It interacts with several other methyltransferases, forming heterodimers that play crucial roles in various biological processes.

TRMT112 is a multifunctional methyltransferase subunit that acts as an activator of both rRNA/tRNA and protein methyltransferases. It forms heterodimers with other methyltransferases, including BUD23, N6AMT1/HEMK2, ALKBH8, THUMPD3, and METTL5, to carry out various methylation reactions. In collaboration with BUD23, it methylates the N(7) position of guanine in 18S rRNA. With N6AMT1/HEMK2, it catalyzes the N5-methylation of ETF1 on 'Gln-185' and monomethylates 'Lys-12' of histone H4 (H4K12me1). Together with ALKBH8, it methylates 5-carboxymethyl uridine to 5-methylcarboxymethyl uridine at the wobble position of the anticodon loop in target tRNA species. In conjunction with THUMPD3, it forms N(2)-methylguanosine at position 6 in various tRNA substrates and at position 7 of tRNA(Trp). It plays a role in pre-rRNA processing for small-subunit rRNA production and, with METTL5, methylates the 6th position of adenine in position 1832 of 18S rRNA.

TRMT112 is also known as HSPC152, HSPC170, TRM112, TRMT11-2, hTrm112.
