TRIM40

Description

The TRIM40 (tripartite motif containing 40) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

TRIM40 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, playing a critical role in regulating the innate immune response. It specifically targets the RLR signaling pathway, inhibiting its activation by ubiquitinating and degrading the RIGI and IFIH1 receptors. Additionally, TRIM40 promotes the neddylation of IKBKG/NEMO, which stabilizes NFKBIA and subsequently suppresses NF-kappa-B nuclear translocation and activation.

TRIM40 is also known as RNF35.
