TRAPPC2 : trafficking protein particle complex subunit 2

Description

The TRAPPC2 (trafficking protein particle complex subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

The TRAPPC2 gene provides instructions for making the sedlin protein, which is found in cells throughout the body. Sedlin is part of the TRAPP complex, involved in transporting proteins between cell compartments. It's thought to be located between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Sedlin is needed to transport large proteins, such as procollagens, from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi, where they're further processed into mature collagen proteins that strengthen connective tissues like skin and bones.

TRAPPC2 prevents transcriptional repression and induction of cell death by ENO1. It may also play a role in the transport of vesicles from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus.

TRAPPC2 is also known as MIP2A, SEDL, SEDT, TRAPPC2P1, TRS20, ZNF547L, hYP38334.
