TPTE
Description
The TPTE (transmembrane phosphatase with tensin homology) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 21.
TPTE is a human enzyme encoded by the TPTE gene. It belongs to a large group of membrane-associated phosphatases that target the 3-position phosphate of inositol phospholipids. TPTE is a primate-specific copy of the TPTE2 (TPIP) inositol phospholipid phosphatase. While TPTE2 has phosphatase activity, TPTE is predicted to lack this activity. TPTE and TPTE2 are the mammalian counterparts of the voltage sensitive phosphatase subfamily.
May play a role in signal transduction.
TPTE is also known as CT44, PTEN2, TPTE1.
