TPRX1

Description

The TPRX1 (tetrapeptide repeat homeobox 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

TPRX1 is a transcription factor crucial for zygotic genome activation (ZGA), a pivotal event in early embryonic development. After fertilization, TPRX1 is expressed and takes over developmental control from maternally provided mRNAs, transitioning to the zygotic genome's expression. It directly activates essential ZGA marker genes like NANOGNB, ZSCAN4, DUXB, KLF5, and DPPA3. TPRX1 binds to specific regulatory DNA sequences containing the 5'-TAATCC-3' motif.

TPRX1 is also known as TPRX.
