TP53INP2

Description

The TP53INP2 (tumor protein p53 inducible nuclear protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

TP53INP2 is a dual regulator of transcription and autophagy. It positively regulates autophagy, playing a crucial role in autophagosome formation and processing. TP53INP2 may function as a scaffold protein, recruiting MAP1LC3A, GABARAP, and GABARAPL2 to the autophagosome membrane through its interaction with VMP1. This interaction, in conjunction with the BECN1-PI3-kinase class III complex, initiates autophagosome development. TP53INP2 also acts as a transcriptional activator of THRA.

TP53INP2 is also known as C20orf110, DOR, PIG-U, PIGU, PINH, dJ1181N3.1.
