TOX2

Description

The TOX2 (TOX high mobility group box family member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

TOX2, also known as TOX high mobility group box family member 2, is a human gene. Its encoded protein belongs to a subfamily of transcription factors that includes TOX, TOX3, and TOX4. These proteins share nearly identical HMG-box DNA-binding domains, which are crucial for modifying chromatin structure.

TOX2 acts as a putative transcriptional activator, playing a role in the regulation of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal system.

TOX2 is also known as C20orf100, GCX-1, GCX1, dJ1108D11.2, dJ495O3.1.
