TNS4

Description

The TNS4 (tensin 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Tensin-4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TNS4 gene.

Tensin-4 promotes EGF-induced cell migration by displacing tensin TNS3 from the cytoplasmic tail of integrin ITGB1, leading to dissociation of TNS3 from focal adhesions, disassembly of actin stress fibers, and initiation of cell migration. It also suppresses ligand-induced degradation of EGFR by reducing EGFR ubiquitination in the presence of EGF. Additionally, Tensin-4 increases MET protein stability by inhibiting MET endocytosis and subsequent lysosomal degradation, resulting in increased cell survival, proliferation, and migration.

TNS4 is also known as CTEN, PP14434.
