TMTC2

Description

The TMTC2 (transmembrane O-mannosyltransferase targeting cadherins 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

Transmembrane and TPR repeat-containing protein 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TMTC2 gene.

TMTC2 acts as an O-mannosyl-transferase, adding mannose residues to the hydroxyl groups of serine or threonine residues in proteins. It primarily targets members of the cadherin superfamily, each TMTC family member having a specific role in decorating cadherin domains with O-linked mannose glycans at particular regions. TMTC2 also functions as an O-mannosyl-transferase for other proteins such as PDIA3.

TMTC2 is also known as IBDBP1.
