TMTC1

Description

The TMTC1 (transmembrane O-mannosyltransferase targeting cadherins 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

TMTC1 is an enzyme that attaches mannose sugar molecules to the hydroxyl groups of serine or threonine amino acids in proteins. It primarily modifies cadherin proteins, a large family of cell adhesion molecules. Each member of the TMTC family, including TMTC1, has a unique role in adding mannose sugars to specific regions of cadherin proteins. TMTC1 also modifies other proteins like PDIA3.

TMTC1 is also known as ARG99, OLF, TMTC1A.
