TMIGD1
Description
The TMIGD1 (transmembrane and immunoglobulin domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
TMIGD1 (Transmembrane and immunoglobulin domain containing 1) is a protein encoded by the TMIGD1 gene in humans. Discovered by Giancarlo Marra's lab and later cloned by Nader Rahimi, TMIGD1 plays a role in forming the brush border of the intestinal epithelium and functions as a tumor suppressor in kidney and intestinal tissues.
TMIGD1 may regulate cell-cell adhesion, cell movement and growth, cell shape, and shield kidney epithelial cells from oxidative damage, thus boosting cell survival.
TMIGD1 is also known as TMIGD, UNQ9372.
