TM9SF4

Description

The TM9SF4 (transmembrane 9 superfamily member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

TM9SF4 interacts with proteins containing glycine-rich transmembrane domains and ensures their efficient delivery to the cell surface. It also regulates the assembly and function of V-ATPase in colon cancer cells by binding to the V-type proton ATPase subunit H (ATP6V1H). This interaction contributes to V-ATPase-mediated pH changes in cancer cells, influencing drug resistance and invasiveness in colon cancer cells. TM9SF4 is further implicated in the atypical phagocytic activity of metastatic melanoma cells, known as cannibalism, and is involved in the pH regulation of intracellular vesicles in tumor cells.

TM9SF4 is also known as dJ836N17.2.
