TLE1

Description

The TLE1 (TLE family member 1, transcriptional corepressor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

Transducin-like enhancer protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TLE1 gene.

TLE1 acts as a transcriptional corepressor, binding to various transcription factors to regulate gene expression. It inhibits the activity of NF-kappa-B, FOXA2, and the CTNNB1/TCF family in Wnt signaling, thereby reducing gene expression driven by these factors. Interestingly, TLE1 can also enhance the repression mediated by FOXG1/BF-1 and HES1. The full-length TLE proteins can be regulated by interaction with dominant-negative AES. While typically acting as a corepressor, TLE1 surprisingly functions as a coactivator for ESRRG.

TLE1 is also known as ESG, ESG1, GRG1, TLE-1.
