TLCD2

Description

The TLCD2 (TLC domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

TLCD2 regulates the composition and fluidity of the plasma membrane by inhibiting the incorporation of membrane-fluidizing phospholipids containing omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFA). This inhibition leads to an increase in membrane rigidity. TLCD2 does not appear to have any effect on the synthesis of LCPUFA.

TLCD2 is also known as -.
