TIMP4

Description

The TIMP4 (TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

TIMP4 (Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases 4) is an enzyme encoded by the TIMP4 gene in humans. It belongs to the TIMP gene family, which produces proteins that inhibit matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), enzymes involved in breaking down the extracellular matrix. TIMP4 is a secreted protein with a netrin domain. It plays a role in regulating platelet aggregation and recruitment and may be involved in hormonal regulation and endometrial tissue remodeling. TIMP4 has been shown to interact with MMP2.

TIMP4 is also known as TIMP-4.
