TICAM2
Description
The TICAM2 (TIR domain containing adaptor molecule 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
TIR domain-containing adapter molecule 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TICAM2 gene.
TICAM2 acts as a sorting adapter in various signaling pathways, facilitating downstream signaling that leads to type I interferon induction. In TLR4 signaling, TICAM2 physically connects TLR4 and TICAM1, transmitting signals to TICAM1 in early endosomes after TLR4 is taken up by the cell. In TLR2 signaling, TICAM2 forms a bridge between TLR2 and MYD88, and is essential for moving MYD88 to endosomes following ligand binding. TICAM2 is involved in IL-18 signaling and is suggested to act as a sorting adapter for MYD88 during adaptive immune response. TICAM2 forms a complex with RAB11FIP2 that is recruited to phagosomes to activate the actin-regulatory GTPases RAC1 and CDC42, resulting in the engulfment of Gram-negative bacteria.
