THUMPD3

Description

The THUMPD3 (THUMP domain containing 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

THUMPD3 is a methyltransferase enzyme responsible for adding a methyl group to the N2 position of guanine at position 6 in a wide range of tRNA molecules. These tRNAs contain the characteristic 3'-CCA terminus found in mature tRNAs. THUMPD3 also catalyzes the formation of N(2)-methylguanosine at position 7 of tRNA(Trp). THUMPD3 requires the assistance of the methyltransferase adapter protein TRM112 to perform its tRNA methyltransferase function.

THUMPD3 is also known as -.
