TFDP1

Description

The TFDP1 (transcription factor Dp-1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

TFDP1 encodes the transcription factor Dp-1, which is a dimerization partner for E2F transcription factors. E2F factors are involved in regulating gene expression, particularly those related to the cell cycle. TFDP1 forms heterodimers with E2F factors, which then bind to DNA and control the expression of target genes. TFDP1 has been shown to interact with E2F1, E2F5, and P53.

TFDP1 stimulates E2F-dependent transcription by binding cooperatively with E2F family members to the E2 recognition site (5'-TTTC[CG]CGC-3') in gene promoters involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA replication. The E2F1:DP complex plays a role in both cell proliferation and apoptosis. TFDP1 also inhibits adipocyte differentiation by preventing CEBPA from binding to its target gene promoters.

TFDP1 is also known as DILC, DP1, DRTF1, Dp-1.
