TFAP2D

Description

The TFAP2D (transcription factor AP-2 delta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Transcription factor AP-2 delta (activating enhancer binding protein 2 delta), also known as TFAP2D, is a human gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a transcription factor.

TFAP2D, also known as AP-2 delta, is a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein that regulates gene transcription by interacting with viral and cellular enhancer elements. It binds to the consensus sequence 5'-GCCNNNGGC-3' and activates genes involved in various developmental processes, including eye, face, body wall, limb, and neural tube development. Additionally, TFAP2D can suppress the expression of genes like MCAM/MUC18, C/EBP alpha, and MYC.

TFAP2D is also known as AP-2delta, TFAP2BL1.
