TEX12
Description
The TEX12 (testis expressed 12) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
TEX12 is a protein that forms part of the transverse central element of synaptonemal complexes (SCSs). SCSs are structures that form between homologous chromosomes during the first stage of meiosis (meiotic prophase), helping to align the chromosomes correctly for division. TEX12's incorporation into the central element of the SCS requires the presence of another protein called SYCP1.
