TECPR1

Description

The TECPR1 (tectonin beta-propeller repeat containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

TECPR1 is a tethering factor involved in autophagy, specifically in autophagosome maturation. It promotes fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes by interacting with both ATG5-ATG12 conjugate and phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate (PtdIns(3)P) on the autophagosome surface. TECPR1 is also crucial for selective autophagy against bacterial pathogens, as it's essential for phagophore/preautophagosomal structure biogenesis and maturation.
