TCF20

Description

The TCF20 (transcription factor 20) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

TCF20 is a protein encoded by the TCF20 gene in humans. It binds to a platelet-derived growth factor-responsive element in the MMP3 promoter. Located in the nucleus, TCF20 exhibits DNA-binding and transactivation activities, suggesting a role as a transcriptional coactivator, enhancing the activity of transcription factors like JUN and SP1. Alternative splicing generates two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. TCF20 has been shown to interact with RNF4.

TCF20 functions as a transcriptional activator, binding to the regulatory region of MMP3 and controlling stromelysin expression. It acts as a coactivator, stimulating the activity of various transcription factors including JUN, SP1, PAX6, and ETS1.

TCF20 is also known as AR1, DDVIBA, SPBP, TCF-20.
